Social Media Facts

Social media is such a big piece of marketing, and becomes more important every day. Keeping up with facts about social media is a good idea to have a better sense of how to get in touch with your target audience. I did some research so you didn't have to. Here were some of my favorite facts:

  • As of July 2015, the internet has 3.17 billion users. (brandwach.com)

  • In 2015, nearly 2.1 billion people had social media accounts. (jeffbullas.com)

  • People 18-34 years old are more likely follow a brand on social networking platforms. (MarketingSherpa.com)

  • Visual content (like pictures and video) is more than 40 times more likely to get shared on social networks than any other type of content. (hubspot.com)

  • In 2015, Facebook influenced 52% of consumers’ purchases online and offline, this is up from 36% in 2014. (thedrum.com)

  • "32% of teenagers consider Instagram to be the most important social network." (wordstream.com)

  • In one day, Snapchat reaches 41% of 18 -34 year-olds in the United States. (wordstream.com)

Social media is always changing, so keeping up with these changes is important. Falling behind could make your business's marketing irrelevant, and a waste of time. It's also important to recognize if you're using the right platforms for your business and to keep your content up to date, and of interest to your followers.

Also remember your social media should be leading traffic to your website, so it should be mobile friendly, most people are on the Internet on their phones.
